# Referral links and tracking

This guide shows you how to create the right referral link for each place you share it, and how to read your results in the affiliate portal. It is for approved affiliates who want to see which links work.

## Before you begin [#before-you-begin]

* Join the program first. See [Affiliate program](/affiliate/).
* Plan where you will share your link: a blog post, video description, newsletter or social post.

## Where to find it [#where-to-find-it]

Go to **Affiliate → Overview** and find **Your referral link**.

## Build your referral link [#build-your-referral-link]

By default, your link sends people to the Spacebrain home page. You can point it somewhere more useful for your audience.

1. Under **Send people to**, choose a destination:
   * **Home page** — the default. Good for general recommendations.
   * **Pricing** — good when your audience is comparing costs.
   * **Sign-up page** — good when people are ready to start.
   * **Any page** — link to any spacebrain.ai page, such as a blog post or comparison.
2. For **Any page**, paste the address into **Page to link to**, for example spacebrain.ai/pricing/.
3. Select the link or choose **Copy**. The button changes to **Copied**.
4. Optional: use the share buttons for X, LinkedIn, WhatsApp or Email. They fill in a short starter message. Edit it before you post so it describes what you actually recommend.

Only spacebrain.ai pages can track referrals. If you paste another site, you see "Use a page on spacebrain.ai. Other sites cannot track your referrals."

Every link carries your affiliate code, so all destinations count toward your referrals in the same way.

## Your first steps [#your-first-steps]

New affiliates see **Your first steps** on the Overview until their first commission:

1. **Share your link** — post it where your audience already is. Your first click appears within a minute.
2. **Get your first signup** — a short walkthrough or honest comparison usually works better than a bare link.
3. **Earn your first commission** — you earn when a signup becomes a paying customer.

## Read your stats [#read-your-stats]

The Overview shows six numbers, from first click to paid customer:

| Stat                     | What it tells you                                                            |
| ------------------------ | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Link clicks**          | How many times people clicked your links.                                    |
| **Signups**              | How many created an account, and what share of clicks that is.               |
| **Referred customers**   | How many signups became paying customers, and what share of signups that is. |
| **Lifetime earnings**    | Everything you have earned.                                                  |
| **Available for payout** | Earnings past the hold period and not yet paid.                              |
| **Paid out**             | What has already been sent to you.                                           |

Read them left to right. Lots of clicks but few signups suggests the page you link to isn't a good fit. Lots of signups but few customers suggests people aren't finding what they expected.

## Referrals view [#referrals-view]

Open **Affiliate → Referrals** to see everyone who signed up through your link. Columns:

* **Customer** — their email, partly hidden for privacy.
* **Status** — where they are now. Active paying customers show in green.
* **Signed up** — the signup date.
* **Became customer** — the date of their first payment, if any.

If it says **No referrals yet**, nobody has signed up through your link so far.

## Commissions view [#commissions-view]

Open **Affiliate → Commissions** to see **Commission history**. Each row shows **Status**, **Amount**, **Payout eligibility** and **Date**.

| Status colour | Examples                      | Meaning                  |
| ------------- | ----------------------------- | ------------------------ |
| Amber         | pending, accrued, approved    | Earned but not yet paid. |
| Green         | paid, completed               | Paid to you.             |
| Red           | refunded, cancelled, rejected | Reversed or not payable. |

**Payout eligibility** tells you when money can be paid, for example "Eligible now", "Assigned to payout" or how many days remain in the hold.

## Worked example: two links, two audiences [#worked-example-two-links-two-audiences]

Riley runs a YouTube channel and a newsletter.

1. For the YouTube description, Riley uses the **Home page** link.
2. For a newsletter issue on pricing, Riley uses **Pricing**.
3. After a month, Riley sees more clicks from YouTube but more **Referred customers** from the newsletter. Riley starts linking to **Pricing** in more newsletter issues.

## If something goes wrong [#if-something-goes-wrong]

* **Clicks aren't showing.** Wait a minute and refresh. Check that the link you shared still includes your code.
* **The Any page field shows an error.** Use a spacebrain.ai address. Links to other sites can't be tracked.
* **Someone signed up but isn't in Referrals.** They may have used another browser, signed up after 60 days, or already had an account.

### Can I add tracking tags to my links? [#can-i-add-tracking-tags-to-my-links]

The link builder doesn't add tracking tags. Your clicks, signups and customers are counted in the portal.

### Do different destinations earn differently? [#do-different-destinations-earn-differently]

No. Every destination uses the same affiliate code and the same program terms.
