Agreements lets you write proposals and contracts, send them for electronic signature and see who has signed. You can also add a quote, let the buyer choose options and start billing once everyone signs. This page is for anyone who sends proposals or contracts to customers. It explains the pages, the statuses and where to go next.

## Before you begin [#before-you-begin]

* Agreements must be turned on for your workspace. A workspace manager does this in **Agreements → Settings** with **Enable Agreements**.
* Your role must allow you to create or send agreements. Only workspace managers can change agreement settings or run bulk sends.
* Electronic signature rules differ between countries and types of agreement. Check your own legal requirements before you rely on Agreements for a contract. Spacebrain does not give legal advice.
* To collect payment after signing, set up [Payments](/payments/set-up-payment-accounts/) first.

## Where to find it [#where-to-find-it]

Open **Agreements** in the main sidebar. The pages are:

| Page | Use it to… |
| ------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **All agreements** | See every agreement, filter by status and find what needs action. |
| **Templates** | Save reusable documents with recipient roles, fields and optional public links. |
| **Batches** | Send one template to many CRM contacts at once and follow progress. |
| **Automations** | Create drafts or send agreements automatically, and react to signing events. |
| **Settings** | Turn Agreements on, set expiry and reminders, email verification, activity sharing and branding. |

## How an agreement moves from draft to signed [#how-an-agreement-moves-from-draft-to-signed]

1. **Write it.** Choose **New agreement** or start from a template. Add text blocks, a quote and variables.
2. **Prepare it.** Add recipients, set who signs and in which order, and place signature fields.
3. **Approve it (optional).** Ask teammates to approve before it goes out.
4. **Send it.** Choose **Review & send**, then **Send agreement**. Invitations go out in signing order.
5. **Sign it.** Each signer verifies their email if required, completes their fields and chooses **Agree & sign**.
6. **Collect payment (optional).** If you set up a payment, the invoice or card setup starts after signing.

## What the statuses mean [#what-the-statuses-mean]

| Status | Meaning |
| -------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Draft** | Still being written or prepared. Nothing has been sent. |
| **Approval pending** | Waiting for one or more teammates to approve. |
| **Approved** | Approved and ready to prepare and send. |
| **Sent** | Invitations have gone to the first signers. |
| **Viewed** | At least one recipient opened it. |
| **Partially signed** | Some, but not all, signers have signed. |
| **Completed** | Everyone signed. The signed PDF and certificate are ready. |
| **Declined** | A signer chose **Decline agreement**. |
| **Expired** | The expiry date passed before everyone signed. |
| **Voided** | You cancelled it. Its signing links no longer work. |

## Find what needs your attention [#find-what-needs-your-attention]

On **All agreements**, use the status filter (for example **Awaiting approval** or **Partially signed**). The action queue can show **My approvals**, **Due within 7 days or overdue**, **Delivery needs attention** and **Collection needs attention**. You can save a filter as a **Personal saved view**.

Under **More actions** you can also open the **Lifecycle report**, **Export CSV**, **Upload PDF** or **Bulk send**.

## Worked example: a web design proposal [#worked-example-a-web-design-proposal]

1. Priya chooses **New agreement** and titles it "Website redesign proposal".
2. She adds a scope section, a quote with an optional "SEO package" line, and payment terms.
3. On the prepare page she adds her client as **Needs to sign** and her project manager as **Receives a copy**.
4. She sets collection to **Create payable invoice after all signatures** with a deposit.
5. She sends it. The client picks the SEO package, signs, and receives an invoice for the deposit.

## If something goes wrong [#if-something-goes-wrong]

* **I can't see Agreements.** Ask a workspace manager to turn on **Enable Agreements** and check your role.
* **Review & send is not available.** A recipient, a required field or an approval is missing. Open the prepare page and fix the warnings.
* **A signer never got the email.** Open the agreement's **Delivery** tab. Retry from there, or use the resend icon next to their name on **Overview**.
* **I sent the wrong version.** Use **Correct & reissue**. It voids the original and disables the old links. See [Create and send an agreement](/agreements/create-and-send/).
