# Set up membership plans and offers

> Create a membership plan, set price and renewal rules, add benefits, publish a revision and share a readable signup link.

This guide shows you how to build a membership plan from start to finish. You will choose the plan type, set the price and renewal rules, add benefits, preview it as a member, publish it and share a signup link. It is for owners and managers who design what members buy.

## Before you begin [#before-you-begin]

* Create the product you will sell in **Payments → Products**. For a free plan, use a product priced at zero.
* Connect a ready payment account. See [Set up payment accounts](/payments/set-up-payment-accounts/).
* To give members bookable benefits, such as gym entry or calendar sessions, turn them on first in **Memberships → Settings → Connected benefits**.
* If members must sign terms, create an [agreement template](/agreements/templates-and-public-links/).

## Where to find it [#where-to-find-it]

Go to **Memberships → Plans** and choose **New plan**. You can also start from the **Set up your membership** card on **Memberships → Overview**.

## Choose a plan type [#choose-a-plan-type]

| Plan type                    | Use it for                                                | Example          |
| ---------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------- |
| **Recurring membership**     | Ongoing access billed every week, month, quarter or year. | Monthly coaching |
| **Fixed-term membership**    | Access for a set number of days that does not renew.      | 90-day bootcamp  |
| **Complimentary membership** | Free access, such as for staff or partners.               | Staff gym access |
| **Prepaid pack**             | A bundle of units bought up front.                        | 10-class pass    |

Once you publish a plan, its type is fixed. To use another type, duplicate the plan.

## Create the plan [#create-the-plan]

### 1. Name your plan [#1-name-your-plan]

1. Enter a **Plan name** and **Description**. Members see both.
2. Choose the **Plan type**.

### 2. Set the price and duration [#2-set-the-price-and-duration]

1. Choose the **Payments product**. The draft keeps this price even if you change the product later. Tick **Use current product price** to update the draft to today's product price.
2. For a recurring plan, choose **Bill members every**: **Weekly**, **Monthly**, **Quarterly** or **Yearly**.
3. For a fixed-term plan, set **Access lasts (days)**.
4. For a prepaid pack, set **Units per purchase**.

### 3. Choose payment and renewal rules [#3-choose-payment-and-renewal-rules]

1. Optional: set **Trial days** (recurring plans only, up to 365).
2. Set **Invoice grace days** (0–90). This gives members extra days to pay an invoice. It does not extend their access.
3. Choose the **Payment account**. Only ready accounts are listed.
4. For recurring plans, decide whether to **Renew automatically**. This creates and sends the renewal invoice for each period. It does not charge a card by itself.

### 4. Choose member benefits [#4-choose-member-benefits]

1. Set the **Benefit timezone**. Allowances reset at midnight in this timezone.
2. Optional: set **Access grace days** (0–30). Members can use any unused units for a few days after their period ends. Grace never creates new unpaid allowance.
3. Choose **Add benefit**. For each benefit:
   * Choose the connected app, such as Gym admission or calendar bookings where connected.
   * Choose the kind: **Unlimited access** or **Counted** (for example, 4 sessions).
   * For counted benefits, set the allowance and whether it resets **Each membership period** or **Never (separate pack purchase)**.
   * Choose whether units are used **At booking** or **At attendance**.
   * Choose whether it covers all eligible resources in that app (for example, every class) or **Selected resources only**.
   * For trials, set trial units and whether the benefit works during a trial.
4. Under **Customer access**, choose what members can do themselves:
   * **Show this offer on the public joining page**
   * **Allow customers to pause their membership**
   * **Allow customers to cancel at the end of the period**
   * **Allow customers to request a different public plan**
5. Add any required agreements.
6. Choose **Save draft**.

If you leave the page before saving, you can choose **Restore edits** when you come back. Unfinished edits are kept in that browser tab.

## Preview the plan [#preview-the-plan]

On the plan page, choose **Preview as member**. The **Member preview** shows the saved price, benefits and joining instructions. A draft preview says "Publish this plan before sharing it." Previewing never creates a membership or takes a payment.

## Publish the plan [#publish-the-plan]

1. On the plan page, choose **Review and publish**.
2. In **Publish this revision?**, compare **New sales** with **Previously published**.
3. Choose **Publish revision**.

**What you should see:** a card titled **Published plan · version N**. New members join on this version. Existing members keep their agreed terms.

To change a published plan later, choose **Create draft**, make your edits, then publish again. The **Version history** section lists past versions.

## Share a signup link [#share-a-signup-link]

Public plans get a readable link that includes the plan name, for example `…/join/…/monthly-coaching--…`. Older links keep working.

1. Make sure the plan is published, active and has **Show this offer on the public joining page** ticked.
2. On the plan page, choose **Copy public offer link**. Or use **Copy signup link** in the setup guide.
3. Add the link to your website, emails or social profiles.

### What the buyer sees [#what-the-buyer-sees]

The buyer sees your business name, the price, how often it bills, the benefits and any trial. They choose **Request verification code**, enter the code and choose **Verify email**. They pick an enrollment option, add a **Promotion code (optional)** if they have one, choose **Review enrollment** and then **Create enrollment**. Existing members can choose **Open your account** instead.

## Other plan actions [#other-plan-actions]

* **Duplicate** creates a copy with a new name. Use it to try a different plan type.
* **Archive** stops new sales. Existing members are not affected.

## Worked example: a 10-class pass [#worked-example-a-10-class-pass]

1. Create a product "10-class pass".
2. Create a plan with **Plan type** set to **Prepaid pack** and **Units per purchase** set to 10.
3. Add a Gym class benefit, **Counted**, used **At attendance**, resetting **Never (separate pack purchase)**.
4. Publish and share the link. Each check-in to a class uses one unit.

## If something goes wrong [#if-something-goes-wrong]

* **I can't change the plan type.** It is fixed after publishing. Choose **Duplicate**.
* **"Choose a zero-price Payments product for a complimentary membership."** Create a free product and select it.
* **Copy public offer link is missing.** Publish the plan and tick **Show this offer on the public joining page**.
* **No connected apps to choose for a benefit.** Turn them on in **Memberships → Settings → Connected benefits**.

## FAQ [#faq]

### If I raise my price, do current members pay more? [#if-i-raise-my-price-do-current-members-pay-more]

No. Existing members keep their agreed price. The new price applies to new sales after you publish.

### Can I offer a discount? [#can-i-offer-a-discount]
