Conversion tracking tells Meta (Facebook and Instagram) when someone visits your page or signs up, so you can measure and improve your ads. You set it up once per page or webinar, and it starts working when you publish. This guide is for anyone running Meta ads to a Spacebrain form, landing page, funnel, quiz or webinar.

## Before you begin [#before-you-begin]

* **A Meta Pixel ID:** open Meta Events Manager and copy your Pixel (also called Dataset) ID. It's a number. You don't need any code or access token.
* **Editing permission** for the page or webinar you want to track.
* **Don't install the Pixel twice.** If you've already added the same Pixel through custom code or Tag Manager, remove it, or your events will be counted twice.

> **Note — Visitors choose whether to be tracked**
>
> Tracking only runs after a visitor accepts marketing tracking. Visitors see **Allow marketing tracking?** and can choose **Allow marketing tracking** or **Decline**, and change their choice later. Form answers are never sent to Meta. Nothing is sent when the visitor's browser has Global Privacy Control turned on.

## Where to find it [#where-to-find-it]

| What you're tracking | Where the setting is |
| -------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| A form | Open the form in **Sites → Forms** and select **Conversions** in the builder header. |
| A landing page | Open the page in **Sites → Landing Pages** and select **Conversions** in the editor header. |
| A funnel or quiz | Open it in **Sites → Funnels** or **Sites → Quizzes** and select **Conversions** in the builder header. Each funnel page has its own settings. |
| A webinar | Open the webinar in **Sites → Webinars**, then the **Conversions** step of the builder, or **Conversions** under **Set up** in the webinar's workspace. |

## Set up tracking [#set-up-tracking]

1. Open **Conversions**. The panel is headed **Meta Pixel (Facebook & Instagram)**.
2. Paste your number into **Pixel ID**.
3. Make sure the switch shows **Tracking enabled after publishing**. Turn it off to show **Tracking off**.
4. Under **Run Pixel on**, tick the pages that should send a page view. For a form or landing page this is **This page**. For a webinar you can choose **Registration**, **Confirmation**, **Waiting room**, **Hosted live room**, **Replay**, **Follow-up** and **Offer (when enabled)**.
5. Under **Conversion events**, select **Add conversion event** and set:
   * **Page:** where the event happens.
   * **When:** **Submission succeeds** (only for pages with a form) or **Page viewed**.
   * **Meta event:** **Lead**, **CompleteRegistration**, **ViewContent** or **Contact**.
6. Select **Preview events** to check what will be sent. The preview starts with **Preview only — no events sent.**
7. Save your settings:
   * Forms, landing pages, funnels and quizzes: select **Apply to draft**.
   * Webinars: select **Save conversion settings** or **Save & continue**. You'll see **Saved to draft. Publish changes to update live tracking.**
8. Publish the form, page, funnel or webinar. Tracking changes go live only when you publish.

## Worked example: count webinar sign-ups [#worked-example-count-webinar-sign-ups]

1. Open your webinar and go to the **Conversions** step.
2. Paste your Pixel ID.
3. Select **Use recommended webinar events**. This adds two rules:
   * **Registration** + **Submission succeeds** sends **CompleteRegistration**.
   * **Offer** + **Page viewed** sends **ViewContent**.
4. Select **Save conversion settings**, then publish the webinar.

Now Meta counts a registration only when someone actually completes the registration form, not when they just look at the page.

## Choose the right trigger [#choose-the-right-trigger]

Use **Submission succeeds** for sign-ups and leads. A page view alone doesn't prove someone signed up. If you connect **Lead** or **CompleteRegistration** to a page view, you'll see a warning: **This counts visits, including direct visits, as registrations. We recommend tracking successful submission instead.**

Page-view events are sent once per browser tab session. Meeting rooms hosted by Zoom or Google Meet and external checkout pages are not tracked.

## Test that events arrive [#test-that-events-arrive]

Saved settings don't prove that events arrive. To test:

1. Publish your changes.
2. Open the public page in a private browser window.
3. Accept marketing tracking when asked.
4. Complete the action you're tracking, such as submitting the form.
5. Select **Open Meta Events Manager** and check that the event was received.

Spacebrain doesn't show Pixel event counts itself. Use Meta Events Manager to confirm delivery.

## If something goes wrong [#if-something-goes-wrong]

| What you see | What to do |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Enter the numeric Pixel ID, not the installation code.** | Paste only the number from Events Manager, not the code snippet. |
| **Enter a Pixel ID and choose at least one page.** | Add the ID and tick at least one page under **Run Pixel on**. |
| **Successful submission is only available on a page with a registration form.** | Choose **Page viewed**, or pick a page that has a form. |
| **Remove the duplicate conversion rule.** | Two rules are the same. Delete one with **Remove**. |
| **Use one rule per registration event to avoid counting it twice.** | Keep a single rule for each registration event. |
| **Apply to draft** is greyed out | Fix the message shown in the panel first. |
| No events in Meta after publishing | Check that you published, accepted tracking in the test browser, and don't have Global Privacy Control on. Check that the Pixel isn't also installed elsewhere. |

## FAQ [#faq]

### Do I need to add code to my page? [#do-i-need-to-add-code-to-my-page]

No. Paste the Pixel ID and Spacebrain adds the Pixel to the pages you choose.

### Can I track with Google tags? [#can-i-track-with-google-tags]

Not from this panel. Conversion tracking here supports Meta Pixel only.

### Does tracking change when I save? [#does-tracking-change-when-i-save]

No. Saving updates the draft. Visitors see the new tracking only after you publish.

### Is a landing page's "Conversion goal" the same thing? [#is-a-landing-pages-conversion-goal-the-same-thing]

No. A landing page's **Conversion goal** decides what counts as a conversion in Spacebrain's own landing page analytics. Meta Pixel events are set up in **Conversions**. See [Landing pages and funnels](/sites/landing-pages-and-funnels/).

## Next step [#next-step]

Publish your page and check it in a private window, then follow [Landing pages and funnels](/sites/landing-pages-and-funnels/) or [Set up, test, and publish a Webinar](/sites/webinar-setup-and-publishing/).
