Builder and marketer quick start

Build a lead-capture form, publish it on a page, follow up automatically and measure results, testing each part on yourself before you go live.

This guide is for people who build things in Spacebrain: forms, landing pages, funnels, email campaigns, automations and AI agents. You'll build one complete lead-capture journey (a form that creates a lead, a page to host it and an automation that follows up) and test each part before real visitors see it.

What you'll have at the end

A published form (optionally on a landing page) that creates a lead in the CRM, plus an automation that follows up. You'll have tested it with your own details and know how to pause it.

Before you begin

  • Role: Editor or higher.
  • Plan: forms and landing pages are available on most plans. Some automation actions, AI voice agents and connected inboxes need a paid plan. You'll see Upgrade required or Upgrade to activate if something isn't included.
  • Connections: to send email follow-ups, your email must be connected (Inbox → Email accounts or Email → Senders & domains).
  • Have ready: your logo and brand colours, the questions you want to ask, and links to your privacy policy and terms.

1. Plan the journey

Write one sentence for each part before you build anything:

PartExample
Who it's forHomeowners in Leeds who want a cleaning quote
What they getA quote within one business day
What you askName, email, phone, postcode, size of home
What happens nextA lead is created, an email confirms receipt, and Priya gets a task to call
How you'll measure itForm responses and new leads per week
When you'd take it downSpam submissions or leads going to the wrong person

Only ask for what you need. Every extra question reduces how many people finish the form.

2. Build the form

  1. Go to Sites → Forms and create a new form. Describe what it's for and select Create my form, or start from scratch.
  2. Add your questions. Match each one to a CRM field (such as Email or Phone) so answers land in the right place on the lead. If there's no matching field, you can Create custom field, but only for data you'll actually use.
  3. Set the Button color and style to match your brand.
  4. Write a clear thank-you message, for example: "Thanks! We'll send your quote within one business day."
  5. Select Preview to check it on desktop and mobile.

What you should see: the form looks right in Live preview and the status says Saved · not published.

Preview only shows how it looks. Nothing is submitted and no lead is created.

3. Publish and test the form

  1. Select Publish. You'll see Form published.
  2. Select Share to copy the link.
  3. Open the link in a private browser window (so you're not signed in).
  4. Submit it once with your own details, clearly labelled, for example Test – Maya (internal).
  5. Check three places:
    • The form's Responses shows one new response.
    • CRM → Leads has one new lead with your answers in the right fields.
    • The thank-you message appeared.

Also try submitting with the email left blank or in the wrong format. The form should stop you with a clear message.

4. Put it on a landing page (optional)

If you want a full page rather than just a form:

  1. Go to Sites → Landing Pages (or Sites → Funnels if visitors need several steps, such as form → booking → thank you).
  2. Add a headline that says what visitors get, a short explanation, and your form as the main button or section.
  3. Add links to your privacy policy and terms.
  4. Preview on mobile, publish, then open the live address in a private window and submit a test.

Use a single landing page unless visitors genuinely need more steps. Every extra step loses some people.

If you run ads, you can turn on conversion tracking for your page under Conversions by adding your pixel ID. Tracking only starts after you publish, and visitors are asked for consent where required.

5. Add a follow-up automation

Only add this once the form works on its own.

  1. Go to Automations → All Automations and select New Automation.
  2. Choose Describe with Orbit and type what should happen, for example: "When a form creates a lead, send them a thank-you email and create a task for Priya to call them within one business day."
  3. Review the plan Orbit prepares. Ask for changes in plain English, such as "make the task due in two hours." Then select Save draft. (Orbit AI uses credits.)
  4. Open the draft and check each step: the trigger, the email content and sender, and the task assignee.
  5. Select Run dry test to see the path without sending anything.
  6. Select Publish, then submit your form again with your own details.
  7. Check Automations → Runs for one successful run, your inbox for one email, and Tasks for one task.

Prefer to build it yourself? Choose Build manually instead of Describe with Orbit. To sort leads automatically (for example "hot", "warm" or "not a fit"), add a classifier step. You can check it with Test classifier · Free before publishing.

6. Launch small and watch

  • Share the link with a small group first, or run a small ad budget.
  • Keep Automations → Runs and the form's Responses open for the first few submissions.
  • If anything looks wrong, Pause the automation or Unpublish the form. Neither deletes your work.

See Launch your first automation safely for the full routine.

7. Improve

Look at each step separately: visits → form submissions → leads created → emails delivered → calls booked. Find the first step where people drop off and change one thing there. Then republish (select Publish new version for forms) and test again.

FAQ

Should I build the automation or the form first?

The form. Get submissions creating leads reliably, then add the automation. If something breaks, you'll know which part it was.

Does Preview prove the page works?

No. Preview checks the design. Only a real submission on the published link proves the form, lead and follow-up all work.

How much test data should I create?

A few records: one that works, one with a missing or wrong answer, and one that submits twice. Label them clearly and delete them once you've checked.
